Coming off the heels of a trip to Alberta, I’ve noticed similarities between the digital/tech scene in Toronto and the one found in Calgary and Edmonton: the community is tightly knit, vibrant and rich in its enthusiasm to share, connect and interact with other like-minded professionals.
It’s no secret Toronto is a veritable hotbed for innovation; we’re home to some fascinating startups, talented creative folks and ruthless innovation. Toronto is also home to many exciting events, catering to freelancers, thought leaders, and entrepreneurs.
As I move forward with the Pixel to Product research study, engaging these communities is one of many priorities. It goes with out saying: helping build awareness of the research study is of utmost importance. We’ve done so in Alberta, and would like to replicate our success right here in Toronto, where it all began a few months ago.
To that end, we’re beginning to plan a Community Mixer to help connect digital media industry professionals and provide us with a platform to engage with those professionals and help spread the word about the Pixel to Product research study.
If you’re free on Wednesday, October 6 2010 (not Thursday as previously tweeted), I’d love to have you join us for a planning session (ie: post-work beverages), open conversation and idea-sharing at the Spotted Dick (81 Bloor Street East). We’ll be getting started sometime after 7:00pm; drop me an email / send me a tweet and let me know if you’re coming.
I hope to see you there!
